About the NBMC:
The New Brunswick Multicultural Council is the bilingual non-profit umbrella organization for established and emerging multicultural, ethnocultural associations, and immigrant-serving organizations in the province. Since 1983, NBMC has served as a key advisory body to federal, provincial, and municipal governments on matters related to multiculturalism, immigration, newcomer settlement, retention, and labour market integration.
Position Overview:
The Director of Programs provides strategic and operational leadership for NBMC's key programs and initiatives, including IMVisible, the Rural Settlement Network, Imagine NB, and Equity Stream. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role oversees a team of up to four staff, leads proposal development and funder relations, and represents NBMC with key government, community, and sector partners across New Brunswick.
This is a contract position until March 31, 2030, with potential for renewal and growth beyond the contract term.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for NBMC's flagship programs: IMVisible (Gender-Based Violence & Empowerment), Rural Settlement Network (including Settlement Workers in Schools), Imagine NB, and Equity Stream.
- Drive program excellence, build key partnerships, and ensure measurable outcomes across all priority areas.
Representation:
- Represent NBMC on various provincial and federal committees and working groups focused on justice, equity, decolonization, diversity, and inclusion.
- Collaborate with ethnocultural organizations, equity-seeking organizations, and francophone organizations.
- Engage on provincial issues including housing, education, and migrant workers.
Staff Management:
- Supervise up to 4 FTEs under current funding agreements, with oversight of additional program staff (up to 10 FTEs) as needed.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, and workload management.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture aligned with NBMC's equity values.
Fundraising & Reporting:
- Lead the development and submission of funding applications — a core and priority function of this role.
- Build and maintain funder relationships and manage reporting obligations.
- Collaborate with program leads on interim, quarterly, and final reports to funders.
- Support program managers and coordinators with budget tracking in close collaboration with the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (staff management, community engagement, operational support, project management).
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social sciences, business/administration, communications/public relations).
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
- Experience facilitating training and presentations on justice, equity, decolonization, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience with multi-year budget management and funder relations is a strong asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with digital tools such as Notion, Microsoft tools, and others is an asset.
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year
