POST OF BAGGAGE HANDLER – (TEMPORARY)
The Board of the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority (AASPA) wishes to inform the staff of a job vacancy within the AASPA.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Baggage Handler – Temporary Basis in the Sea Ports Division of the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority (AASPA).
Duties to include:
- Transport passenger luggage and any other items from departure hall (ticketing area) to Security Hold Baggage for security screening. Ensure luggage is accurately assigned to the vessel before removal from departure lounge.
- Load and unload passenger luggage and any other items to and from Security Hold Baggage X-ray machine while ensuring that bags are handled carefully to prevent damage during transport.
- Sort and load luggage based on vessel and destination using baggage tags to ensure accurate placement on vessels for departure.
- Transport luggage to and from the terminal to the vessel using carts or dollies to ensure safe and efficient movement of large quantities of bags.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects and have the ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time.
- Secure luggage and or any other items to prevent shifting during transportation, which is crucial for safety.
- Work closely with other team members to coordinate baggage handling activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time to minimize delays.
- Work quickly, safely, and accurately while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Participate in disaster management activities designed to prepare for, mitigate against and respond to disaster events.
- Participate in Security and other relevant exercises for Port compliance.
- Perform any other related duties in relation to the post or directed by Port Management

- Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally with employees, passengers, Boat Owners/Agents other stakeholders etc
- Must be adept at problem solving including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
- Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines is crucial, as the role involves operating equipment and handling heavy items.
- Ability to lift heavy items, push and pull wheeled carts
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Copies of qualifications and or certifications
- 5-year employment history and/or activity history (2021 – 2026) to include written letters from employers covering the years of employment. Letters must include the following:
