
VACANCY NOTICE
POST OF FORKLIFT OPERATOR
The Board of the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority (AASPA) wishes to inform the general public of a job vacancy within AASPA.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill a vacant post as a Forklift Operator within the Sea Ports Division of the Anguilla Air & Sea Ports Authority.
Duties to include:
- Load/Unload materials and merchandise from incoming/outgoing vehicles and stack them to assigned place
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
- Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
- Transport raw materials to production workstations
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
- Performs preventative maintenance such as general equipment cleaning, checking fluid levels, lubrication, maintaining tires pressures, and changing implements or attachments. Performs other grounds maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Keep updated records of maintenance logs
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities/within the Port while providing quality service to all customers and users of the Port
- Participate in disaster management activities designed to prepare for, mitigate against and respond to disaster events
- Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Port Manager
Core Skills
- A sound and thorough knowledge of operating heavy equipment/machinery standards and recommended practices and their applications,
- Must be able to communicate clearly with Management, Employees, Boat Owners/Agents other Stakeholders etc
- Must have ability to work well with a team, to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Strive consistently to provide excellence in customer services in the AASPA.
- Initiate new ways of doing things and embrace and contribute to change.
- Must be adept at problem solving including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback
Qualifications:
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- Certificate to operate heavy equipment together with at least two years’ experience in a similar or related job.
Training and Experience:
- Proven experience as forklift operator/heavy equipment operations
- On-the-job training for specific tasks and safety protocols
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and procedures
- Excellent physical condition and coordination
- Valid certification to operate forklifts & other heavy equipment
Regulatory Requirements
- Colored copy of passport
- Two passport sized Photographs
- Copies of qualifications and or certifications
- Employment history and/or activity history (2021 – 2026) to include written letters from employers covering the years of employment. Letters must include the following:
- Employment period (day/month/year)
- Must be on company letter head
