Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and bilingual (FR/ENG) Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a CPA or in the process of completing their CPA, with strong team building and people management skills. This role involves overseeing the financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements within our organization. The Controller will play a critical role in automating manual processes and supporting the company's growth initiatives.
Location: Kirkland, QC (Hybrid)
Reports To: Director of Finance
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and support of the company's strategic plans and improvement initiatives.
- Manage the accounting department, including hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting managers and team members.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring a robust internal control environment.
- Monitor the financial performance of the company, compiling and analyzing financial reporting packages.
- Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets, and plan, budget, and authorize expenditures.
- Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
- Communicate financial metrics to senior management and present financial results to operation managers on a monthly basis.
- Liaise with external auditors to plan, organize, and coordinate the year-end close process.
- Ensure the successful completion of the company's tax filings, including Corporate Income Taxes, Sales Taxes, WSIB, Worksafe, EHT, and CNESST.
- Review cash management reporting and manage material cash flow, such as rent and income tax installment payments, to maintain Free Cash Flow (FCF) for operational needs.
- Perform Super Administrator tasks on RBC banking, including authorization, limitation of transactions, and working to resolve bank errors.
- Supervise and support smooth timesheet data flow for payroll.
- Supervise and support the payroll process.
- Maintain access to the line of credit.
- Monitor and manage foreign currency balances.
- Conduct customer credit checks in Equifax and grant credit limits to new customers.
- Working with the Director, serve as a primary contact for CRA, Revenue Quebec, WSIB, CNESST, BC Worksafe, and Canada Statistics for communication and audits.
- Participate in ongoing projects on different platforms to ensure data integrity.
- Approve Customer Profitability Analysis, LBE results, and Monthly Finance Dashboard monthly.
- Review pricing calculations, support contract negotiations, and manage the pricing function.
- Approve CPI updates for customers' contract prices.
- Identify and facilitate process improvement projects to drive efficiency.
- Ensure knowledge and compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards applicable to assigned functions and roles.
- Take responsibility and support the team to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system.
- Use a risk-based approach to identify risks and opportunities that may affect the conformity of products and services rendered and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation or in the process of completing CPA (an asset)
- Bilingual in English and French.
- Strong team building and people management skills.
- Experience with Sage and a strong understanding of accounting software.
- Proven ability to automate manual processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards is an asset.
